Looking Back 2011

2011 wasn't a good year for me. Having a hard time tightening my financial status. I know I've been impulsive buying gadgets and other material stuff. Plus, I'm studying Masters Degree at University of Cebu, taking Master of Science in Technology, Majoring Computer Science.

Calamities in 2010 happened nationwide every time typhoon heats Philippines. Floods and landslides happens Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. Just like what happened recently in Iligan City and Cagayan De Oro a lot of resources was lost and lives destroyed cause of Typhoon Sendong.

But still 2011 was not that bad at all because some of the things that  happened in my life this year.

* I was able to witnessed the Sinulog Parade at Fuente Osmena with my son and relatives.
* Month of January was able to buy a Canon G12 from my friend Daniel Go for 19K.
* This year we edited and published our Filipino Workbook for Gr.2 Of course with the helped of our supervisor Dr. Ester Tangente.
* April-May, lucky I am cause I was able to attend the Aboitiz IT Seminar at Benedicto College.
* May, visited the Beautiful place of Camiguin Island and attended Luche Jandayan wedding aat Chateau de Busay.
* June, wasn't able to celebrate and treat my friends out for my Birthday.
* Eilis Tan visited Cebu City and with her was a friend Ann Margaret Tan. Had a great time with them
* August, joined the Buwan ng Wika contest of Monologue. We got the First place in District contest but didn't win in Division Level..
* October, joined the Liham Kay Dr. Jose Rizal contest and got Third place.
* September, speaking engagement at Division Office for Ubuntu O.S. specifically using the Word Processor.
* November, one of the facilitator during the INSET District Level and this month first time I've joined the Division Press Conference.
* December, was not so good Christmas for me.

Indeed God had blessed me so much this year and I know he will continue to shower me this 2010.  I think the most important thing God gave me this year was that my family remained in good health and safe from any calamities.

Thank you are not enough to express my gratitude  to everyone who shared the year with me new friends, colleagues and workmates.

I know God will bless us all in his own little ways
keep on believing keep on praying.

Happy New Year!!!!

FILIPINO TIME???

Don't you find it insulting degrading, and embarrassing when people equate Filipino time with tardiness? Doesn't it anger you that every time someone is late, the most convenient excuse is to say the words "Filipino Time"?

For a very long time, Filipino time has been equated to tardiness. This is the tendency to always be late, whether in school, office, or any appointments. Even foreigners say that this tendency is an inherited trait of Filipinos from their ancestors. Do you agree with them?

Let us state an important fact tardiness is not genetic and it is not inherited. Filipinos did not inherit the concept of tardiness from their ancestors, It is not true that some Filipinos being always late can be traced to the nature of the Filipino race. What is true, however, s that some Filipinos would always justify their being late, instead of apologizing to those waiting for them. This can be considered the reason for others to believe that "Filipino Time" is being late all the time.

Filipinos today are, however, doing everything to correct this misconception.

A good technique is to always be prepared ahead of time. One cause of being late in appointments or in a particular work is rushing things at the last minute. By preparing ahead of time, you would be wasting precious time, remembering things that you might have forgotten. Also, you would not be wasting time doing, at the last minute, the things that you should have done hours before. It is also a good idea to think ahead of time. For example, if you know that it will take you 30 minutes from your house to reach your destination, you may leave an hour earlier. This will give you extra time for things like traffic jams.

Being self-disciplined can also help one to be on time. For example, if we have to go to school early the next day, it would be best to sleep earlier to avoid waking up late. You should remember that the most common tendency to be late happens during the morning.

By making the concept of Filipino time "always on time" , Filipinos give other people a positive reflection of themselves and their values. It shows consideration for the time of other people. And it shows respect for other people. And it shows respect for other people. After all, it is the responsibility of all Filipinos to change everyone's mindset regarding Filipino time. Filipino time should always be on time...
